FOCUS is an international amateur theatre festival in Austria.
It takes place under the name STRAWANZ in the Bregenzerwald from 16 to 19 June 2016. Eleven selected groups from all over the world go on stage. The stages are established across the Bregenzerwald – from Sulzberg to Schoppernau. The audience can expect passionate, creative and motley productions which overcome language and boundaries. For young and old.
The artists, actors and singers of the eleven groups come from Germany, Iceland, Israel, Cameroon, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, South Africa and Hungary. All participants speak and sing in their national language. As theatre does not overcome all linguistic barriers, each and every audience member receives a short introduction to the content of the play before the performance.
The productions take place on the stages of Alberschwende, Bezau, Bizau, Doren, Egg, Hittisau, Lingenau, Schoppernau and Sulzberg on three festival days. The spectators arrive to the performances with vehicles of all kinds – with buses, the “Wälderbähnle”, etc. Central meeting point is the BWS Bezau (commercial highschool Bezau). At this place all actors, spectators and other interested people come together before and after the performances. The opening takes place there on Thursday, 16 June 2016. On three evenings – on the opening evening on 16 June 2016, on Friday, 17 June 2016 and on Saturday, 18 June 2016 – famous music bands will perform there.
